Jordan Miller

August 7, 2007 – Jordan Miller is one of the hardest working and dedicated webmasters today on the internet. With about 35,000 hits a day, he runs BreatheHeavy.com, a Britney Spears fansite on top of everything from her daily outings to Starbucks to an “Oops!.. I did it again” incident, Jordan knows just how to bring his visitors back for more. While Jordan continues to work on websites, he also plans on interning for one of the most famous celebrity publications to date; Rolling Stone magazine. With many accomplishments already achieved, there is no doubt that this young dreamer will be truly successful in what he puts his mind to.

Johnny: BreatheHeavy.com is one of the most up-to-date, popular Britney Spears fan-sites on the web. How do you keep up with all the craziness?

Jordan Miller: Take it one day at a time. One day Britney is at Starbucks getting coffee, and the next day she says she is pregnant and all of a sudden the whole atmosphere of the site shifts. Instead of getting ready to promote her new material, you get your sources ready to document the next 5 months of her life as a pregnant newly-wed. You can never anticipate where the site is going to go. Keeping up with the craziness is only natural when considering the source of the site.

Johnny: What do you think makes your site different from other Britney fan-sites?

Jordan Miller: I try to make the site different from all the others by creating stunning visual graphics to attract the viewer. I’ve spent several years really learning how to create designs, and studying what people like, what is popular, and what will keep them coming back. Of course there is still room for improvement, and my expectations for the site grow everyday. Also, I really try to get exclusive material to the site. You begin to make networks and connections when you grow, which of course is a give and take relationship. This on the flip-side has its negatives. I have a real issue with trust, and getting what you want requires you to trust another individual in which you’ve never met except through the internet. There is definitely give and take. Overall, I feel that Breathe Heavy has been successful thus far because I really do care about Britney and her fans. Years of my life have been poured into the site, and that you can’t find at just any Britney Spears web-site.

Johnny: Why the name Breathe Heavy?

Jordan Miller: When I first decided to start a site for Britney, I knew I needed a domain name that people would remember, a name that was unique. I specifically did not want the word ‘Britney’ in the domain, because I felt that was over-used. I wanted a domain that was original, and sexy. Britney is known for her deep, airy vocals. Combined with her high intensity dancing, the name only seemed right. Britney is a sex icon, and my hope was to have a name to match.

Johnny: Are there any other projects (web) in the works?

Jordan Miller: I am constantly working on new material for Breathe Heavy. What people don’t realize is that typically I spend at least 1-2 hours on the site every day. It’s all about prioritizing, and making Breathe Heavy an obligation. I have made my site a priority because it is important to me. I know that thousands of people count on me everyday to keep the site up-to-date, so of course that is a heavy influence. Right now I am currently working on several new themes for the interactive forum “Exhale,” creating several new .php subsections, and constructing a new October magazine issue. Also I am creating a new section where webmasters can order and purchase a custom layout for their fan-site which I am hoping attracts a whole new genre of visitors. Finally I am launching Breathe Heavy’s very first contest to win a free copy of Kevin Federline’s first CD. The site is constantly expanding and I will continue to update the site with the hottest and freshest ideas yet.

Johnny: What is your dream career?

Jordan Miller: My dream job would be to work at Rolling Stone magazine. I have looked up to that publication since I was 10 years old, and have had a subscription to that magazine for years. I probably have over 500 issues stashed away. Also, I would love to work for MTV in creating graphic-art for their award shows, television shows and merchandise. And to be a part of Britney Spears’ management and or official web-site would be such an honor. Sky is the limit.

Johnny: If you had a day to hang out with Britney Spears, what would you do?

Jordan Miller: Honestly, I would love to grab a Starbucks in her Ferrari, cruise to Moonshadows for a bite to eat and head on back to her Malibu home to hangout with her and the babies… hopefully hear a few sample tracks from her new album in her recording studio. Just something really laid-back, casual and chill.

Johnny: What has been one of your challenges in life?

Jordan Miller: What a lot of people may not know about me is I competed in men’s junior elite gymnastics. I spent 3 and Ω hours Monday-Saturday training for major competitions such as the Junior Olympic National Championships which I competed in 3 times making it to the finals third time around. That was a huge part of my life. I was juggling gymnastics, private school and the site all at the same time; it was really stressful for me. I am proud of my accomplishments, but I know there is still a lot left to be done. Some challenges I face in the future in the next 2 years would have to be to complete a 26K marathon, score an internship at Rolling Stone, and of course continue the site with all my might.

Johnny: Do you believe web communications has advanced or gone up to speed with how things work in the world? Like, do you see it as an advantage or disadvantage?

Jordan Miller: Of course. Nowadays a celebrity can run out for cup of coffee, and all their fans know about it within a few hours with high quality pictures, details of the location, and a story. On one hand I feel bad that the celebrity can’t even have a few minutes of normalcy in the real world. On the other hand I feel that that celebrity wanted fame and fortune, and lack of privacy comes with the territory. I myself have had problems like this where my rights were completely violated such as a celebrity’s would be. My address and cell-phone number was posted all over the net, and I received over 100 calls from unfamiliar and unknown numbers. You’re always going to have the people that love you, and the people that hate you, there’s no way around it. I feel that fan-sites are a disadvantage to the artist’s company because the site usually is releasing material that the company has under restriction. But, the sites are definitely an advantage for the artist considering there is tons of free promotion and exposure. Everything has its highs and lows, it’s all about aspect and how you look at it. My goal is to have Breathe Heavy be an advantage to her career rather than something that will hurt her in the end, and I feel I have done that thus far.

Johnny What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?

Jordan Miller: I will be married and have at least one kid by then. My plan is to have 4 or 5 kids. I want to be a young dad. Career wise I plan on working at a large publication or agency promoting celebrities in some way, shape, or form; whether it is management, PR or design. Where I hope to see myself is shooting Rolling Stone covers and making history with innovative and shocking pictures. Who knows what life has for me 10 years down the road. I barely know what I am doing 10 days from now. One day at a time my friend, one day at a time.

Johnny: What have you learned from working on your Britney fan-site?

Jordan Miller: Breathe Heavy has taught me so much about myself that I never knew existed. I have put in a lot of work, but I have gotten back so much more. I have learned patience through trial and error. I have learned how to be creative and unique. I have learned that reaching for the stars and pursuing your dreams is more than just a cheesy saying, it is possible. Thanks to all the amazing people that visit my site everyday, I have accomplished one of my many goals. I hope Breathe Heavy lives on forever, as it is my plan never to give it up. If I hit the big bucks scoring my dream job, I could never turn my back on the site. Breathe Heavy has been such an outlet for me. When I am sad, mad, happy, I can channel my feelings into the site, and I am so grateful for that. It is such an escape, and I can go on in a million words about how Breathe Heavy has helped me along my way. It was my project; it turned into a goal, and has become a dream come true.

Jordan continues to work on his sites everyday. As time progresses, more visitors discover the site and Breathe Heavy continues to grow. If you are interested in checking out Jordan’s work, head on over to BreatheHeavy.com. To send an email to Jordan, email him at breatheheavydotcom@gmail.com.
